Stanley has a very best friend. His name is Alfie, and he is also a Pomeranian. Sometimes, Alfie comes to visit, and those are Stanley’s absolute best days ever!
Even though Alfie is smaller than Stanley, he is 6 years older! People always think Stanley is the older one because of his size, but if you spend any time with the two puppies together, you will see that Alfie is definitely the ‘Alpha dog’. That means that Alfie is the one who makes the final decisions about what they will do, and he gets to eat first. When they go for walks, Stanley always tries to be the one in front. Since he’s used to walking 3-4 km a day, Stanley has a lot more perseverance and always takes the last hundred yards at a sprint! Taking them for walks together is always a challenge because everyone we pass by thinks they are both so cute that they want to stop and chat. Which dog do you think chooses to be friendly to passers-by?
If you said ‘Alfie’, then you are correct! Stanley hides behind my legs or puts his paws on my knees to ask to be held. He is my protector, but he gets nervous around strangers. Once you are his friend, though, Stanley is as loyal as they come.
Stanley and Alfie, Alfie and Stanley. Friends forever.
